International Conference FUTIRIS 2020:

Research Infrastructures of the Future

Synergies, sustainability, smart specialization and social impact

Dr. Vasil Kolev from the Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology (CPSBB) participated in the international conference “FUTURIS”, organized by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science and the Executive Agency for the Operational Program Science and Education for Smart Growth as a follow up to the success of the thematic 2018 Bulgarian Presidency Flagship event and the International Conference for Research Infrastructures 2018 in Vienna. The event was focused on the synchronisation of national and EU efforts towards the next programming period in the context of long-term sustainability of European research and innovation infrastructures. On 10 and 11 December 2019 the event has gathered high-level speakers and around 200 participants to the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.

The conference programme was structured in 2 main pillars. The first one was dedicated to Pan-European research infrastructures and Horizon Europe. The second conference pillar addressed the topic of research infrastructures in the context of the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF). The CPSBB and the PlantaSYST Teaming project were presented by Dr. Vasil Kolev in the fourth panel of the event: New programme period. Building synergies between ESIF and Horizon Europe.
