Maritsa Vegetable Crops Research Institute (MVCRI) in partnership with the Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology (CPSBB) take a great privilege to announce the School of Advanced Horticulture (SAH).

This activity is supported by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (SGA-CSA No 664621 and No 739582 under FPA No. 664620).

School of Advanced Horticulture aims to stimulate the activity of the horticultural community in Bulgaria and also to create a forum which gathers well-known scientists, lectures, young researchers, students, vegetable producers, processors, and private sector breeding companies to get familiar with advanced theoretical and experimental topics in the field of horticulture.

Training courses and workshops are envisaged in the fields of:

  1. Management of Genetic resources
  2. Classical and Molecular Breeding
  3. Resistance to Biotic and Abiotic stresses
  4. Bioinformatics – Data input, storage and analysis

Demonstration field plot of various deeply characterized tomato and pepper genesources, was opened for visitors to present their valuable traits and ways of usage.

Field days are foreseen to transfer knowledge from laboratories to farmer fields and steer the dialogue between researchers and farmers. It would be also a unique opportunity where researchers can understand real time issues faced by farmers and concurrently allow producers to make informed decisions and make aware about emerging challenges in vegetable crops production.

We look forward to welcome you in our forthcoming events and meet you at our training courses, workshops and field days.

Please stay tuned for further updates!
