The International Conference on Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology (ICPSBB 2021, https://conference2020.cpsbb.eu/) was held in the Golden Sands Black Sea Resort, Hotel International, from 14th to 17th of June 2021. The conference was a major educational and dissemination event, which also served to link CPSBB with academic and industrial partners.
The organizers of ICPSBB 2021 were the Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology (CPSBB) and the Maritsa Vegetable Crops Research Institute (MVCRI). The Chair of the Organizing Committee was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tsanko Gechev.
Topics of the conference included Genomics, Abiotic and Oxidative Stress, Plant Development, Plant Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Evolutionary Biology, Molecular Breeding, Plant Systems Biology, Bioinformatics and Computational Modeling. Some of the renowned scientists in these fields delivered lectures.
The ICPSBB contained not only high profile lectures but also poster sessions and social events:

150 people from 25 countries attended ICPSBB 2021: Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, Finland, Germany, India, Israel, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, New Zealand, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, The Netherlands, Ukraine, and the USA. Sixty-six organizations (universities, research institutes, and companies) were represented at ICPSBB 2021.
The Swedish company Agrisera awarded the Best poster prize – a voucher for 400 EUR goods from the Agrisera catalogue. The winner was Pawel Burdiak from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, Poland: https://conference2020.cpsbb.eu/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/TheBestPosterPrize.pdf
ICPSBB 2021 was attended by all PlantaSYST Beneficiaries, including many young researchers– PhD students and postdoctoral scientists. Several of them presented lectures, others presented posters. Mr. Petar Kazakov and Dr. Tsanko Gechev discussed future cooperation with representatives of several biotechnology and vegetable breeding companies: Agridaeus (Italy), Amititsa (Bulgaria), BTU Center (Ukraine), Opora Zaden (Bulgaria), RSR (Bulgaria), Zeiss (Germany).
PlantaSYST and CPSBB were popularized to all 66 organizations attending ICPSBB 2021. Another dissemination outcome of ICPSBB 2021 is the publication of research articles in special issues of three scientific journals: International Journal of Molecular Sciences (IF 4.556), Plants (IF 2.762), and Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences (IF 6.496). Publications in these journals are attractive to many conference participants and will further increase the visibility of CPSBB.
